Level 3 Training

Training for Unsupervised Facility Usage (Very Frequent Facility Users)

Level 3 Certification

Level 3 certification grants you full access to the MRI facility.* A Level 3 certified individual must be present when using the scanner.

*Please note: MRI Level 3 certification does not give access to microCT scanner or equipment. Contact mri@byu.edu for information on microCT certification.

Level 3 Requirements

To become Level 3 certified, you must complete the following:

  • Level 2 certification
  • CPR/AED certification
  • 10 hours of shadowing
  • Level 3 Practical Exam
*Please note: The MRI facility cannot provide funding for CPR certification.

Level 3 Trainings

Level 3 training sessions are optional but highly recommended. These hands-on sessions give you the opportunity to practice running an MRI scan with a volunteer, become familiar with the scanning process and emergency procedures, and review the Level 3 Practical Exam rubric. Attendance at these trainings count towards your required shadowing hours.

Trainings are typically held twice a month. If you would like to be informed of upcoming sessions, please email mri@byu.edu and request to be added to the training notification list. You will receive advance notice by email before each training.
